Continuing with “Sounds of the City” where I step off the platform and onto the train where a man gives us a lesson and some music - gem.

I used to transfer at 59th to the B/D to get to work, but recently have just been going to 42nd and walking over, it’s faster it seems. Well, every day I would transfer I would be met by this guy on drums and a guy on an electric piano. The same spot, the same time, every day.
This time I stepped off the train and there were now 5 of them and with a whole lot more instruments. I believe I was too close when recording this, but it gives you an idea. They were surround, the music was really good - always calming.

It was really early in the morning and I was on my way to the clinic. I was walking down the ramp into the tunnel and heard music, I was intrigued. I hurried through the turnstile to find it. Quite an interesting, and good, song to hear on such a stressful day.
Sorry about the photo. I was tired and in a hurry. I truly wish my mind was elsewhere this day and i could have stayed and caught the next train.
Times Square | MTA
It has been quite awhile since I have uploaded sounds of New York City from below.
This man was very entertaining to watch and listen to and I let several trains pass me by just so I could take it all in.
Enjoy,
Titzer

This man couldn’t be happier spending his days in retirement playing on a keyboard under some stairs in Columbus Circle.
He had the biggest smile on his face, wish you could have seen it.
(sorry that the photo is blurry. I was running late for work and snapped it as I jumped into the subway car)

This week I was out with Wilson after seeing The Hunger Games and on our way home I stumbled upon a performer that I had met on the downtown track at 59th Street a few weeks back. I positioned myself to record the man this time and to take his photo when this gentleman, Jack Kirk, came up to Wilson & I to introduce himself and just general flirt. I was able to capture the interaction along with the music from the ‘subway performer’.
This made me very happy. I am trying to capture the sounds of the city and I love how this is evolving. NYC is a gem.
