I came in to work today and sat for the daily pre-shift.
‘We have 65 arrivals, no room moves allowed, going to be a busy night…’
‘There is a wake as well as a birthday party tonight in the studios.’
All I could think was, I hope the casket comes through the back door…
Let me try and set up the scene.
Both the wake and the birthday party were happening on the same floor directly next to one another. In one room mourning and the other, well, celebration. You get the picture.
There were people crying in the lobby and people dancing and drunk on the elevators.
I couldn’t help but see what was happening around me and laugh. No one understands this industry, the demands, the ‘dance’ we must perform daily.
All in a days work.
