I met these two woman at pretty much the end of my day. They had just met on the steps of the Supreme Court and wanted a photo to remember the occasion, I obliged. In turn I snapped theirs.
The woman on the right said to me “My son and family do not agree with my views and do not support my being here.” I really appreciated her honesty and courage to step out from those her around her even though I do not share her same beliefs. It takes a lot of strength to be surrounded by people that do not support your views but you stay strong and firm, I admire that, a lot.
I do not know her entire background of course but truly hope that her relationships back home are supportive and that she has the love of her family.
These two women clearly support the law to uphold the law that restricts the rights of gays to marry in the state of California and I believe it to be a beautiful thing that two strangers can come together and stand as one with the same view and express their first amendment rights - great country.

Towards the end of my day I started to witness more ‘clashes’. These two were very civil towards each other in their views and it was nice to be a witness to their discussion.
I support them both but you must imagine that if you’re both there, your views must be pretty strong and neither of you are gonna swing - what’s the point?
